Marketing and Communications Manager


The Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation (PDMMF) is seeking a Manager of Marketing and Communications to lead its internal and external communications, marketing strategy and implementation. This position maximizes the organization’s visibility, media and storytelling efforts, continually looking for creative ways to communicate PDMMF’s brand and events.

This position reports to the foundation’s founder/CEO, and works with the board of directors to support organization-wide initiatives. It can be based anywhere in the United States — although the Raleigh, NC area is preferred — and will work from a home office. This position is paid hourly with approx. 20 hours per week, but with opportunity to expand those hours in the future.


  • Produce and distribute all organizational communications, including electronic and print communications, collateral, newsletters, public relations, blogs, social media, press releases, etc.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual strategic communications plan.
  • Organize, design and write corporate emails and product collateral.
  • Position will work closely with the PDMMF Creative Director and advise on updates to the organization’s website.


  • Experience with MailChimp, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Commit Change (or similar donation software) highly preferred.
  • 5+ years relevant work experience in social media and digital marketing, nonprofit work a bonus.
  • Experience directly managing digital campaigns/programs – from conception to execution and measurement.
  • Fundamental graphic design skills preferred basic marketing materials. (Branding identity files provided as a starting point).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
