For six months we have been working hard behind the scenes on our upcoming event, Taste for a Cure: Gala Benefiting Melanoma Research. After countless hours of hard work, research and meetings we are beyond excited to share the next phase of our gala website! We are pleased to introduce the Gala Culinary Team and Featured Chefs!
Chef James Dutra of Harvest, Oxford
Chef and Farmer Geoff Seelen of Piedmont Biofarm, Pittsboro
Chef Justin Anderson of Gocciolina, Durham
Chef Serge Falcoz-Vigne of 18 Seaboard, Raleigh
Chef Evan Sheridan of Herons, Cary
This amazing team of chefs are not only incredibly talented and committed to locally sourced cooking, they are also kind and generous people willing to work together for such a great cause. Special thanks to our amazing graphic designer and web master, Lucia Riley for all of her hard work on our website!
In addition to our incredible culinary team we are honored to have Joanne P McCallie (Coach P) head coach for the Duke Women’s Basketball team as our key note speaker.
We also have the support of many local farms and vendors including but not limited to: La Farm Bakery, Fair Game Beverage Company, Full Steam Brewery, Crude and Bitters Soda, Bean Traders, Dog Day Farms, Color Fields Farm, Sassafras Fork Farm, Wild Scallions Farm, Bakesale, and the list goes on!
Our one of a kind locally sourced farm-to-table gala to be held at Carlee Farm in Oxford, NC on May 1, 2016 is almost sold out! We are down to the last three tables. This one of a kind event promises to be memorable, while supporting a great cause. The net proceeds from the gala will benefit our charitable ally the Melanoma Research Alliance.
In addition to this amazing line up we recently hired our Lead Event Co-ordinator Valerie Contreras. Valerie began volunteering with the Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation in August. It was easy to see that Valerie’s experience, commitment and enthusiasm for the cause make her a perfect fit for this role! We are beyond excited to have Valerie serving in this role and it is such a joy and honor to be working side by side with her!
Some days it is hard to believe that we have only had our non-profit status for three months. I am truly honored and humbled by the support of family, friends and the community at large. I have so much to be grateful for and I am certain that together we will make a difference in the lives of so many!
