For the past few weeks, we’ve shared the #WhyICare stories that recently moved the room to tears at our Taste for a Cure Gala. Today, in honor of Father’s Day, we hear from Raymond Callahan, dad to our founder and CEO Tracy.
#WhyICare: ‘Tracy’s Ideas and Drive Grow Stronger Every Day’
I care because Tracy Callahan is my daughter. When you’re Tracy’s dad, and you see all of the work Polka Dot Mama does, and all of the people it brings together, believe me: It’s only natural to care deeply about this cause.
I care because Tracy has been affected by melanoma more than once – she works so hard on behalf of others. Her ideas and drive grow stronger every day. Tracy’s mother and I are so proud of her. We always said that Tracy was born under a lucky star, and she continues to prove that to us.
I care because Tracy is determined to succeed in increasing awareness for melanoma, and promoting prevention and early detection of melanoma.
I care because Tracy has a long track record of helping others. During her nursing career, she cared for kids, many diagnosed with terminal cancer – always taking that extra step to help.
I care because Tracy is and always will be our little girl.
I love you, Tracy.
I would say keep up the excellent work, Tracy, but I know you’re way ahead of me on that. I can’t wait to see what Polka Dot Mama does next.
